Free Form Crochet Wired! Red and Silver Wire Combined

All the components together in a finished necklace.
I will often get inspiration by something a co-worker is wearing. I’m the crazy one who stops them by the copier and say, ” Oooo, can I see your earrings?” I recently stopped a young lady who was wearing a fetching necklace design of mixed shapes in red and silver. I love this! This kinda looks like free form crochet. At home that night, I started to make different shapes with wire and beads. I’ve used a 30ga wire to crochet and simple silver lined seed and bugle beads. Once I had my shapes, I added the faux rhinestones for the centers.

Some extra pieces that didn’t make it to the final design. Great starter for the next project.
Just like regular crochet, each piece is sewn together. I must admit, I find hiding yarn ends easier than wire ends. Some ends are tucked into the center of beads, while others are tucked in-between wires. I do have extra motifs left over, which I intend to use on my next project

Getting a closer look at the centers.
A purchased chain attached to either side with a simple clasp closure, finishes it ready for wear. I am thrilled with how this all came together. I can’t wait to delve deeper into transferring this fibre technique over to wire.

Full size of the finished necklace.
The only question is….which part or motif would make the best earrings to match?
