Drawers-Cleaning Wool Bangles

Bangles are my favorite style and last year I started making and wearing wool covered bangles, they’re soft and warm and I think they’re perfect to give a touch of color to winter sweaters.

The problem is that I’m a newbie at knitting, I only know basic stitches and my bangles ended up looking all the same, just different colors, so I decided to add something…..
As I militate under the flag of “save everything, you might need it someday”(I still have tape holder and fountain pens from elementary school…)

I started a “drawer-rummage expedition” hoping to find something to embellish my gray bangle…I came up with three orphan gray buttons from who-knows-which long time dismantled sweater, metal hammered beads and some Czech clear crystal, than I sewed all to my bangle.

I was so satisfied with the result that I wore it the same day when I went to my optic to buy new glasses. The sales assistant liked my bangle and ended up asking me to make her a lilac one, I was pleased and I create the lilac one you can see in the second picture, I gave it to her today and she was really happy, it was difficult to give it away because I like it too… sigh!

P.S.: as for using odds and ends, both wools are leftovers from scarves I made, the bangle is adhesive tape inner carton roll and it’s covered with recycled wrapping sponge to make it soft. Hope you like them!

Thank you all for commenting my post!
Yes, they’re soft and confortable because before covering them I wrapped the bangles with a thin layer of sponge, and if you suffer from carpal tunnel syndrome they’re excellent to keep your wrist warm ;)))).
They can be made any color and decorated with everything you like, buttons, beads, charms and so on, if you’re a knitter they’re a funny way to use wool balls leftovers and if you can’t knit at all you can just wrap the bangle with wool and then decorate it, give them a try, they’re so much fun to make and are a little and inexpensive winter treat.
see you soon!

lovely! You shouldn’t worry about being a novice knitter! Your pictures are the proof it doesn’t matter.

Wonderful wool bangles

I think a display of an assortment of these bangles would attract a lot of interest! They’re unique with the knitting, and you can do so much fun / interesting stuff with beads and buttons to embellish them!

These would also make wonderful gifts.

Thanks for sharing this cool way you used up odds and ends by turning them into something beautiful.

Hi Rena, thank you very much for your kind comment!
You’re right, if you display an assortment of them they would catch attention, they’re colorful and funny.
The only problem is that according to my knitting speed if I start now maybe I will have an assortment ready by Christmas 2012…. 😉
