Big & Bold Coin Makes a Jewelry Statement

Sierra Leone Elephant pendant (hand painted coin)

I hand painted this coin from Sierra Leone with bold colors to go with the large and dramatic elephant on the coin design.

Adding even a bold Kumihimo braid adds drama.

The coin is large, about 1-1/2 inches across (38mm) and about the size of a US Silver Dollar. Some women might shy from wearing something so large and colorful, but I am 6 foot tall and the bolder the better!

Size comparison to a US Quarter

I like it worn with a simple chain or a slider, but it could also make an interesting focal piece in an even bolder beaded piece.

In fact, I do well selling my coin jewelry at shows targeted to bead designers for just this purpose.

I love featuring animals on my coin jewelry that my customers may collect or have a connection to.

Elephants are such interesting animals, but have become endangered where they compete with new developments and farmers that use the same areas.

I hope that someone who wears an item like this brings much needed attention to these wonderful animals.
