Vintage Rose

Several years ago a client of mine gave me a small box filled with broken and old antique jewelry.

There were some great treasures including a garnet bead necklace, a rose quartz bead necklace and my favorite piece, a diamond shaped brooch. At least I’m guessing that it is a brooch.
The hardware on the back is a bit different and I haven’t had any luck finding anything similar in my research. The brooch appears to be gold plated with its center being a floral carved rose quartz that is bordered by teeny tiny green stone beads that look like jade or aventurine. It kind of has an Asian feel to it.
These treasures had been sitting idle for way too long. I decided to use the rose quartz beads and brooch to make a necklace. First off I wire wrapped a loop onto the hinge of the brooch back so it can be used as a pendant but does not permanently alter it as it is an antique.
I paired the brooch with rose quartz beads from the broken necklace, olivine Swarovski Crystals, and amethyst faceted glass beads. I am really happy with how it turned out. It is definitely a one of a kind creation.
