Trying to Identify My Style

by Jeanne Lyons.

I too have been struggling with narrowing my focus and zeroing in on a style. I’ve been doing art & craft shows for 3 years and have found that the less expensive items sell the most; not so much my sterling silver pieces.

All categories are similarly afflicted. So I’m focusing on silver filled, silver plated, copper, and brass wire. Right now I have 3 lines:

1)wire wrapped stone pendants and necklaces,

2)wire wrapped bracelets and earrings with stones, pearls and crystals,

3) Last year I added wire rings because I was frequently asked for them at shows. Rings have been hit or miss depending on the show. They seem to be more of an impulse buy and I can’t have every size in every color in each style to meet their interest.

Since sales at my shows have been kind of slow I decided to go against trying to zero in and try another new line this year – wedding necklaces and earrings with wire filigree, pearls, crystals, white semiprecious gemstone necklaces and earrings. We’ll see if this line flies or flops.

I guess I could say that my style is “wire work” but I’m thinking that that’s still a little too broad. Any thoughts?
