The Bombs Bursting In Air

by Carol Langston.

This piece was inspired by a neighborhood fire works show. I have been on a copper cuff making streak and was looking for new ideas. So as we sat in our front yard watching all the different ground displays in the neighborhood…all of a sudden a huge burst and a boom overhead.

Someone had obviously gotten some illegal fireworks….As the display shot into the air and displayed these beautiful red white and blue “beads”…..well, I thought…..there’s my next copper cuff!!!!

So The next day, I got out my thick copper wire and formed it into a cuff. All the cuffs come out a little different as I just use a basic measurement then just start bending and shaping until I’m satisfied!! I hammer, texture and polish the wire as I go.

Red White and Blue

For the “flower” I started with large flat red glass teardrop shaped beads. I wired them all together to form a base. I added the white faceted brios as the second layer. The 6mm Swarovski crystals form the center. The flower is about 2 inches across and definitely does make a BOLD statement.
