Okay – I know Rena has asked us before to tell her what tools or other items we use in our beading / jewelry making in unconventional ways, and I wanted to share this tip with all of you:

I use a hair straightener (I used to use my curling iron until I found a mini hair straightener) to straighten out the kinks in my griffon silk or nylon cord before I hand knot my designs.

It works great and the compact one I have fits into my ‘take-along’ beading kit when I travel, too!

Thank you all for commenting on my tips and my jewelry. I used to use my normal iron/ironingboard and then switched to my curling iron, but when I found these little bitty compact straighteners (vs. their larger cousins) I grabbed one up and it’s worked like a charm!
