Seeing Spots? It’s Painted Porcelain
by Cindi Bernloehr.

This is a combo effort by my mother and I. Mom is a talented porcelain artist and painted the leopard pendant but never knew what to do with it afterwards. I loved this piece and thought the “spots” would look fantastic with crocheted wire and dark glass glazed beads. I used bright copper wire and and tiny leaf as the bail for a great effect with the leopard.

Big, Bold and Wild
The story continues because I sell jewelry at a local resort each week and a lady came into my booth with her sisters. I started my speech with “I design and create the jewelry and my mother paints my pendants” Before I could finish, the lady states quite strongly, ” No, Penny Nangle painted these.” I was surprised and said “Yes, she’s my mother.”
Well it turned out that the lady had been a student of my mother’s for many years and just happened to be on vacation with her family in FL, and just happened to stop in my booth. After we both got over the surprise, she decided that she had to have the necklace.
So I felt that this fit into the BIG & BOLD challenge.
