Rustic Heart on a Wire
by Zoraida

Although the heart motif had been used millions of times and anyone, anywhere recognizes and understands its meaning, I was never the less challenged to create a piece of jewelry featuring a heart.
I had a section of left over copper sheet waiting to be morphed into some symbolic adornment.
With Valentine’s Day approaching, I gave in to the whole heart thing but wanted to create a different look, not red, not perfect, not ornate.
I drew a heart on the copper sheet and pounded it on the reverse side, then hammered and manipulated it on the other side.
I folded the sides back, added some patina and framed the pendant in copper wire.
I liked the rustic look and thought a simple, contoured neck wire would be the perfect way to suspend it. It would probably look great on a chain or cord as well, but I already had this neck wire from a former project.
So here it is, hope you like it.

Zoraida, love the fact that you decided not to go red. This patina with the copper heart is beautiful when completed with the simple framed pendant and wire choker.
Just lovely!

I love your treatment of the copper. It’s rustic but in a very soft way. Stunning.
Love it!

Thank you Lynda, Line and Maggie for your lovely comments.
I did want to create a heart with a different look. I love rustic, but I also love a more refined and soft look as well. I’m always playing with the two sides of me.
