Old Items & Techniques for a New Look

I hand paint coins, and many of them are old. This coin was issued in 1972. A good design is a good design.

So it was fun to use some striking color combinations to transform it into coin jewelry.
I also made a coordinating Kumihimo Japanese braid with beads.

This technique of braiding is very old and was used for Samarai swords in Japan. Now the same braiding technique is used to make lovely jewelry and beads can be added for a more dramatic look.

The overall look is contemporary by using a blend of old and new, and a bold color to bring it all together.
