Little Visions in Jewelry Art

These photo earrings feature my image of the Gateway Arch which stands proudly overlooking my hometown of St. Louis.
I’ve been taking pictures for years and years, since I was in 6th grade actually! (Now I’m in my 40’s, so that was a long, long time ago.) Needless to say, I’ve accumulated lots of images. Six years ago my husband kindly suggested that I do something different with my photographs as all of the walls in our walls were “full’.

I snatched some pictures of neighbor’s pink dogwood blossoms and featured them on these mother of pearl discs.
A few weeks later, my cousin, Susan, showed me a bracelet that she had gotten from Mexico with images of the Virgin Mary on it. She said maybe I could turn my photos into jewelry.
I did some research and experimented with various mediums and techniques and failed and tried again and failed and tried again and failed and tried again. (I settled on using epoxy resin in my jewelry making, and perfecting that process really tried my patience.)
But each time I failed, I reminded myself that I was one step closer to succeeding.
… And so was born my business, Little Visions Photo & Jewelry Art. I love taking pictures and sharing my “little visions”. My work seems to make people really happy, which is one of the most important things that art/craft can do!!

I also feature family photos on my jewelry. These are cropped vintage images of my Grandma and her sister, German immigrants who came together to America from Germany in the 1920’s. I call this bracelet “Faces of Immigrants”.

I love taking pictures of trees. Each tree tells her own story!
And now after 15 years of marriage, my husband can finally hang his Monet print – there’s actually room on our walls!
