Green Lace and Coral

I came across some beautiful spring green coloured lace quite some time ago that I just had to have. It was a top originally, but it has been sitting on my work desk, just waiting to be transformed into spring jewellery.
Then, last weekend, I was watching a fashion show on television and they were talking about how lace is very popular right now. I decided that evening to bring out the lace and see what I could make with it.
This is the first piece. It is a choker length necklace. It is actually a little brighter shade of spring green than the photos show, but I couldn’t get the colouring any better.
I embellished the lace with goldtone filigree bead caps that I made into flowers using crystals for the centre. I realized this morning that filigree is the metal version of lace.
I have always loved both, and now I understand why! I also used green seed beads to create a ribbon effect running the length of the necklace.
I wanted to highlight the two front flowers, so went looking through my beads for just the right shape and colour of stone. I was rewarded when I came across a little bag of coral sticks that had been passed on to me by another jewellery artist. They were just right!
I made matching filigree flower earrings to go with my necklace. The earwires are gold-plated.
And I had just enough coral left to make a bracelet. I nestled some gold-plated tubes that I had in stock between the coral bunches, and finished with a gold-plated clasp.
I tried the set on and it made me feel like a princess. It’s a little difficult to imagine from the pictures exactly what it looks like on, but it is beautiful. It feels very light and airy, but draws a lot of attention.
