Flamed Copper Necklace

Several members of my chain maille group have been working with butane torches to flame different metals, and the copper caught my eye.

I purchased a torch and scales and started playing around. I love how each scale develops a different pattern from the heat. I also flamed the rings to give the entire piece a more cohesive look.

After fiddling with the scales and finding a weave to compliment them I decided it needed a pop of color and finally found a home for a turquenite drop I have had for a while.

Shortly after I finished this piece I had a show and it was given a new home. I have already flamed a second batch of scales to make into another piece….I think I’m addicted!!
