Eye of the Dragon

When my grandmother passed away in 2002, I inherited all her old funky jewelry–the rhinestone bubble earrings and the acrylic bead necklaces.

I started taking them apart and remaking (now called “upcycling”!) new things. In fact, I designed a whole line of jewelry–each a named piece–around her old things, and others that I collected from various estate sales…The Luella Collection.

The center part of this piece was an old pin, just a large dome with a red rhinestone in the center. I cut off the pin back and created a wire sculpture around it, adding Siam red Swarovski crystals to compliment the center stone.

The result is a pendant called Eye of the Dragon, a gorgeous piece I quickly decided to keep for myself! (After all she was MY grandmother!)
