Colour Swatch Memories

Before I moved a couple of months ago, I made a couple of necklaces incorporating some elements of the natural world that I had found in my yard over the past summer. I figured that making the jewellery pieces up would be the best way to preserve the delicate bits during the move.
I had been wanting to try making necklaces out of colour swatches I had from having my colours done, and decided that they would be the best way to showcase these elements.
The bright yellow swatch contains a four-leaf type of a clover I had found in my lawn, as well as some forget-me-nots, all of which were pressed. When I sealed the piece, the forget-me-nots and the clover changed colour, which I was anticipating, but still looked pretty.

“Starry Night Flight” Necklace
I added some other embellishments to my little garden scene, decided on a pearl chain to hang it on, and a brass disc for weight. The chain edging around the pendant makes it look like a picture in a frame. I love the vibrant yellow and the overall look of this necklace. I called this piece “Forget-Me-Not Garden”.
I decided on a royal blue swatch to mount 2 intact butterfly wings from a little guy that had died in my yard. This necklace evolved into a “Starry Night Flight”, with brass angels, twinkling stars, and a crystal torch helping my little butterfly take one last flight. I embellished his wings with black rainbow crystals. I hung this pendant on a long brass chain.

These necklaces are fond reminders of my garden to bring with me into my new home.
