Coconut Joy

I found this string of coconut slices in a second-hand store and grabbed it right away. I love designing with this type of natural element, and it’s so fun for summer!

Some of the slices were painted on one side, and some were not. I loved the colour that was there, but wanted to add more, so I grabbed my paints and went at them. Then I tied the strand to some re-purposed copper chain, and let some pieces of chain dangle down.

I added some colourful polished wooden beads, for even more colour, and the finishing touch was some bright blue crystal beads, to add a bit of sparkle and elegance. While showy, this necklace is very light, which is a style I’m gravitating to more and more.

While I had my wooden beads out, I made a pair of rainbow earrings, not sure that they would go with the necklace, but I wanted to make them anyway.

When I tried them on together, they actually looked really cool!

I also made a pair of earrings using the remaining blue crystals, as another alternative. I can’t sell this set. I love it, so it has to stay with me.

It really represents my style, and is a nice showy set to wear when I want to draw attention to my jewellery.
