I absolutely love looking at antique and historical jewelry, and while I can’t replicate most of the techniques used, I enjoy trying to capture the look or “feel” of a period with the tools and materials I have at hand.

I decided to try to make a Renaissance-looking piece with copper (because I love copper!) wirework. It’s basically just two shapes, repeated over and over: a doubled spiral and a 3-loop “bar” with beads wrapped into the loops.

The joints are wrapped to work like hinges, so it can lay flat and is easy to put on and take off, and I made the clasp with the same doubled spiral as the links. I antiqued and polished, and this is the result!
