Swingin’ Tassels

A friend asked me to make a beaded tassel necklace as a present for her mother.
I have always wanted to try making tassels so this was a good motivation.
I had lots of tiny gemstone beads but wanted to give the tassel some shine and weight. I had purchased some small square brass beads and these seemed perfect. The next challenge was the wire.
I tried several kinds of wire but couldn’t seem to get the swingy, fringy, tassel feel I wanted. Voila, I ended up with fishing line which was strong and flexible. The hardest part was getting the clear tiny line into the almost invisible holes.
I was very happy with the results and spent the following week making a variety of tassels. The combos are endless. ps. My friend’s mother loved the necklace.
