Spring Ocean Designs Necklaces

A few years ago I purchased a necklace from a church thrift store for a client of mine who is in her 90’s.

It is made from beautiful Mother-of-Pearl chips that have been loosely knotted on gold thread. There are 12 strands knotted separately between the beads and then twisted together.

This necklace is gorgeous and very light weight yet stands out because of bulk from the 12 strands. Lucky for me my client really was not taken with it and so I get to wear it.

I have received so many compliments on it that I just had to try my hand at a version of it – but with my own twists.

In each of the designs below, I have used three strands because my chips and other beads I used were a little larger. I knotted the three strands together about every inch. I used a suede cord for the back.

These have been received very well and I have now made five in two weeks ( and I throw in free earrings).

My first attempt – and the start of my love of this design.

My first order – used coral in this design and went back and secured the little 1″ bundles because I had to use lighter thread due to hole size.

Made for my sister – she loved it!
