I’m sure that I’m not the only artist around who ends up holding onto bead and component orphans. Sometimes I consider offering up the entire lot of them as a Destash listing on my Etsy shop.

But then inspiration has me rooting around and pulling out this and that component because I’ve suddenly got a vision of an entire finished piece clamoring to be made. That’s what happened with this lariat style necklace which I feel is both understated and a bit flirty.

An earlier customer of mine wanted a Heart charm with a keyhole in it added to an anklet. But they did not want the key that came with the charm. So the tiny key has been sitting in my stash of sterling components awaiting some inspiration. Which in this case came in the form of a sterling linking component I found underneath my workstation while I was seeking out something else I’d dropped.

As I fingered the component an image of the key and some pearls popped into mind. It wasn’t long afterwards that I was digging through my pearls, chain and head pins so I could make my mind’s vision.
