Flirty Fiber Cuff

I love working with beads, textiles and fibers in my jewelry designs.

KBerkowitz: Flirty Fiber Cuff 1

For this cuff bracelet, I used some sage green twill fabric and embroidery floss in shades of red, blue, white, green and yellow to create an abstract garden design with French knots.

I chose bright cherry red leather to line the bracelet and red seed beads to create a picot edging. I topped it off with a pretty floral button to serve as the clasp.

This was a fun piece to create because the design was free form and evolved as I worked. I find most pleasure in work that is not so exacting in terms of counting or measuring. I don’t mind tedious handwork as long as I can go with the flow.

These pieces are one of a kind and I really enjoy seeing how people react to them when I show my jewelry. I have learned that I can never predict who will connect with a piece of jewelry. It is a delight to create things that people will enjoy wearing.
