“Embrace Imperfection”

by Susan Fiano.

This is an upcycled 7″ bracelet made with french style frosted crystal glass and vintage aged brass beads from a chandelier. Premiere yarn, 20 gauge wire, and antique chain & findings complete this pretty piece. Lobster claw clasp.

This bracelet was not yet complete. I’ve been looking for something to add just a hint of color and uniqueness to it. When I saw this contest on Jewelry Making Journal’s site, I decided to finish the piece and went looking for something non-jewelry to add to it.

I actually happened upon the premiere yarn while shopping for curtains (go figure!) I browsed around the craft section and thought this yarn was perfect. And it definitely was! The yarn adds charm, but doesn’t take away from the vintage feel or the Embrace tag.

I have made many upcycled pieces because I think it’s fun redesigning jewelry. I am a self-taught jewelry maker and work from my home. What I need to learn I glean from books or online tutorials. I have taken a few classes online as well. I love it! This is my second career having left the law field years ago.

This is my first submission to any contest so I am very excited.
