Octopus’ Garden in the Shade

These busy designs were inspired by a project I found on a craft store’s web site. I have made 10 of them now since December 2012 and each one has a different theme and story. The most popular one is “Octopus’ Garden.”

The first one I made, “Time to Fly Upon the Wings of Love,” is actually a tableau in that it tells a story from left to right–it is now time to throw off our shackles, emerge from our cages, hatch from our shells and let our hearts lead the way. The heart, in fact, is the key. And like the Phoenix, it’s our time to rise from the ashes and fly upon the wings of love.

To construct them, I use two lengths of various types chain, mix & match charms, pendants and connectors, and lots of jump rings! I make them “on the bust” so as I add something, I can see instantly how it drapes and looks with the other elements…adds a whole new meaning to “how’s it hanging?”!!

Butterfly Transformation

My latest confection, “Morning Dew,” uses felt and polymer clay roses. I often add crystal teardrops for stylized accents. These statement necklaces are fun and easy to make!
