Bugs in the Garden

I love nature and all things in it and I am always looking for ways to include things from nature in my jewelry.

Bugs in the Garden

Everything from shells and strange things from the beach or moss from a tree, etc. One day I found a Dragonfly that had perished on the front of my car, his wings were perfect and beautiful so I kept them and decided to immortalize him into a beautiful piece of jewelry.

I encapsulated the wings into several pieces of jewelry. There is a wonderful story called “Of  Waterbugs and Butterflies” by Doris Stickney that helps to explain death to children.

I sent a copy of that story to a friend who had just lost her husband, along with this necklace, so that she could help explain his death to her grandchildren who were very young and were having a hard time with his death.

So this is a very special piece because it spoke to me when I found the Dragonfly in my garage.
