Hand formed, hammered copper rings are layered and soldered together to form rosette / nest-like shapes resembling barnacles when assembled in groups.

The piece is then oxidized and washed repeatedly until a pleasing combination of blacks, browns and deep oranges appear.

I coat the whole necklace with a sealant to retain the oxidation effect on the surface of the copper.

Process:

• designed by me
• formed into shape by hand
• soldered
• hammered
• solder assembled
• oxidized
• sanded
• tumbled
• sealed

This piece is 100% hand made by me chain and all in my home studio in Texas.

It can be worn shorter or longer and can be dressed up for a night at the museum or paired with a t-shirt and jeans.

Every piece is made to order and will always be a one of kind.

The construction and soldering ensures longevity and durability and lacquer retains the finish and acts as a barrier between the piece and the skin.

It’s definitely my stile, love it!

Rustic treasure
by: Rena

I love the rustic, rusty, organic look of this! It looks like it was found among sunken treasure in an ancient shipwreck.

The various sizes and layers of circles are very cool.

Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful necklace with us!

thanks!

Thanks for the feature! I originally developed this design to be sold in the MOCA Cleveland’s gift shop for the duration of Ursula Von Rydingsvard’s Sculpture exhibit which is up right now. I love making layered designs out of metal that look as if they could house things within them.

Great piece!

I agree with all the previous WOW comments on this necklace. I’m particularly drawn to the dimensionality of the piece with all the layers. And thank you for the detailed explanation of your process too.

your patinas
by: Barbara in France

Your green and blue patinas on copper are really striking. Your jewelry creations show such imagination and are unmistakeably handmade. Bravo! I have tried with limited success to get the same colors on copper (or other); would you be interested in sharing your secrets on that point? Thanks.

This necklace jumped off the page at me – it’s so cool (understatement)!

The design is very pleasing to the eye and the way the circles lay make it very rustic and bold!

It’s one of those statement necklaces that I’d love to be able to wear!!
