Rena, thank you for sharing your talents. Not every jewelry artist is willing to give permission for others to profit from one of their own creations. I love simple, elegant jewelry designs like this. They are beautiful just as they are, or they can be embellished in a hundred different ways!

In reply to Angela. Thanks, Angela! For gold-filled wire, I would use half-hard or even hard wire, depending on the gauge of wire you're using. You need to be able to make a smooth spiral, but not too flimsy.

I had bookmarked this page a while ago and finally found the perfect wire to make these earrings. Michaels had wonderful colored aluminum wire on clearance after Christmas and I bought as much as I could in all of the bright colors. I made some in the same spiral and then played with the design a bit, bending back the other way inside the outer circle. They are lightweight & get a lot of attention. Pics on my page. Thanks Rena!

Maria Jenny, I’m glad to hear you found them so easy to make – and that they were a hit at your gift exchange! I do think doing other shapes with this earring concept would be a good avenue to explore – good idea.

Thank you for sharing this tutorial with us. I made a pair of these for myself just to see how difficult it might be to replicate. It was quite simple and I can see how making multiples would help tone the skills required to make these. I made a pair for a White Elephant gift exchange at our Yoga group. They were ‘stolen’ multiple times.

I am considering making these for sell. Do you have any restrictions on that?? I’m also considering a jewelry line that would include this type of wire working earrings. Think square, rectangle or triangle shapes might be interesting as well. Thoughts??

These are simply lovely! Sometimes a simple, hoop type earring is all you need. They would be a great add on for a spiral link necklace (and you know I love spirals). I can picture these in any metal, hammered or smooth, oxidized or left bright and shiny. I like heavier wire so I would probably make them in 16 gauge which is still not too heavy.

These are so beautiful, Rena!! I just love the graceful curves! I’m not a big wire-worker myself, but this is the type of thing I love and am drawn to. And being a yoga person (I’m a certified instructor and worked as that in a past life), I love the zen quality – the name certainly fits!

I really like them in copper too – I’m drawn to that more and more.
