Heating the metal always enables better reception of the liver of sulfer. It speeds up the process considerably.

I’ve done some work in copper, but have never heated the piece in hot water. How does this step change the metal?

What a beautiful chain. I love it. I just started making jewelry, I love African/ Egyptians designs. I wanted to ask for some tips and advice. I have no idea where I need to start or in what terms I need to look up more information about how to make metal for your jewelry. I am absolutely still blanco on this. Do you have some tips, books, links for me where I can find more about this technique for beginners. Thank you, Keep up the beautiful work.

I have been working with copper for a number of years but tend to move slowly with new techniques. Special thanks to Rena and to others on the web who have motivated me to keep going. And I must say, nothing has excited me more than etching (except for the first time I took a hammer to copper). It took some experimentation to get it right, but it was worth it. Isn’t this a great site to learn new things? I do love what Rena has going here and refer to this site often.

These are very impressive! The design is beautiful and the execution flawless. My goal for 2015 is to learn etching. You inspire me.

I love all things copper, and your copper necklace is absolutely stunning! I also like how you incorporated “bead soup” in your bracelet. You do beautiful work. Thanks for sharing your pieces for us to see.
