I have yet to attempt wire wrapping pendants, frozen by fear of failure I think. But you inspire me, thanks

If your customers don’t want to wait for your beautiful work (I would wait an hour or more for one of your masterpieces – but that is me), You might look in to the sculptured type wrapping like Bob did here http://jewelrymakingjournal.com/wire-sculpted/
It is easy and quick, plus each piece will turn out differently and it is easy to add your own unique style.

That pendant was very difficult for me because the wires wrap around the frame and the Mother of Pearl wanted to giggle a lot. I had to be creative on the back to keep it in place. I used a little 24 gauge on the back and on the woven section of the frame to stabilize it.

Can you tell me what size and what hardness of copper wire you used? Round?, half round?, square? half hard? or soft?

I agree with everyone here: your work is outstanding! I also agree with Vicky that I would be willing to wait for what you produce! Take some pressure off by asking people to give you 30-45 minutes. If they wish to stand and watch, so be it. If not, they can browse around the show and when they return you will have the pendant created. Don’t stress. Your customers will LOVE the final product! Guaranteed!

I have loved all your work so to know you have issues too gives me hope! I agree that people should be willing to wait for the quality for that you do!!

The back cover has a shell wrapped in this style. I tried the ring and it works up pretty quickly I found – amazon.com/Making-Wire-Bead-Jewelry-Techniques/dp/1454702877

Your work is gorgeous, and your customers will see that too. Like Antoinette says, your customer will want quality not quantity. I have fate in you. I know you can do it, and they will be beautiful like everything else you make.

Rena, Thank you for the link to the video.

Just like everyone has already said I LOVE your work too! Your customers will appreciate your effort no matter how long it takes and would love to watch you create their special piece in front of them. There’s a paid tutorial by Dale couger Armstrong called wrap a rock, sorry do not have a link but I’m sure you can google it. She does use square wire but it can easily be adapted to round. Its pretty much like the youtube video so not sure if you want to invest the money. Anyway, I hope this helps and we’re all rooting for you!

I think 15 minutes is crazy. How can they expect that. You want quality not quantity. Wish you luck, I hope you can overcome your stress. You do beautiful work and I am sure customers would wait to get that quality. I think they would understand if it takes longer.

Even the “best” strive to get better — a great incentive to all of us. The YouTube video was great! Thanks.

They are beautiful. Time consuming perhaps, but definitely beautiful. (Perhaps you just meant failed at making them within the 15 minutes). Whose idea was the 15 minutes anyway? That’s putting too much pressure on you, and devaluing your work. I’d wait 2 weeks for one if it was like these. And who says square wire is the standard? That round copper one is stunning. ANYWAY – to be more constructive: you probably already know this, but in case you don’t – wrap your pliers in masking or insulating tape so that the wire doesn’t get dented in the wrong places as you zip round all the curves.

Is there much variation in the shape and size of the stone/crystal pendants themselves? Can you pre-make a couple of styles and sizes of those hammered “frames”, then when someone picks their stone, using the round wire, wrap the stone “quickly” (hee hee) to the premade frame?

Here’s a quick and easy round-wire wrap for pendants – I found this YouTube video showing how to do it. In the video this technique is used for a flat object (sea glass), but I’ve also used it for rugged quartz crystals and other very 3-dimensional objects.

Best of luck with your live jewelry-making event! Let us know how it goes! 🙂
