Glad to hear you are wire-wrapping. One of my tricks is to match up the gauge of wire to size of stone. Some people always use the same size for everything. I have even used 24 gauge for very small stones, it is more difficult but you can achieve a more delicate look. Let the size and shape of the stone “speak” to you (no I don’t think stones are mystical) as to the design. I always try to showcase the stone, not the wire. The thing a lot of people do is to hide the stone with all the wire and the wrong gauge wire. Good luck and keep at it. Would love to see some of your work.

I do some wire wrapping (started about 6 years ago) and I hope some day to approach the look you have achieved. I love the delicate, airy look. Thanks so much for posting the lovely photos.

Dana Smith; Thank you sooo much for the kind words. I have always wanted to design pieces that were elegant, feminine and didn’t look like everyone elses wire wrapping. Each piece is one of a kind and hopefully enhances the stones that I use. As for the Argentium Silver, I used to use only 14 Kt. Gold-filled wire because I didn’t like Silver; however as the price of Gold rose, I began to use more silver and now have a great appreciation for it’s appearance. I do find that the Argentium and Gold-filled work the same if you get them both Dead Soft. I looked at your Etsy shop, you have some very lovely pieces, keep up the good work.

All the spirals that suggest movement in the amethyst and topaz pendants! I love to use Argentium silver wire in my jewelry, for it’s forming ease and white silver shine!
Being self-taught is great, because you do what moves you; and nobody tells you “it can’t be done that way!” You are a true artist!

I love gems and wire, so it’s always wonderful to see new work. Have you see Talitha’s Gems? Your pendant’s reminded me of hers. I adore the ring though. I’ve recently begun making wire rings and I’m desperate to use a faceted stone.

I do enjoy working with a diverse variety of stones, some common and some not so common, but always designing to showcase the stone (I have been a rock hound since childhood). I do enjoy your newsletter and journal and all your endeavors, I don’t know how you keep up with it all, but you do an excellent job, keep it up. Thank you for using my entries.

I especially love your ring – the setting is perfect for that cubic zirconia! Love your variety of wraps, as well as your diverse stones – and how well your wire settings echo your stone shapes. Thanks so much for treating us to a peek at your artistry!
