I am also trying to find a way for a larger sphere, and am hunting down a way to make a beaded “hammock” so the sphere isn’t covered so much you cant see it. I wonder if anyone here can give me info? lord knows any help at all is a great help! just an idea to go with the other awesome ones.

To attach the cages to your wood/material you might drill two or three small holes through which you can attach the cage to the staff with either a heavy gauge wire jump rings or even wire with flame balled ends larger than the holes.
My spouse does beautiful woodworking projects and I’ve used different techniques to attach stones, shells and other found objects to these. Sometimes strong tabs or prongs work. Once I used domed shaped straps forming an X to hold a marble then screwed/micro bolted through the metal into the wood and rimed the excess riveting heads flush with the metal. For extra security you can add a bit of Lock-tight or other glue to ensue the screw/bolt stay tight. Wish I had some pic’s to send along but it’s been awhile and they’ve been given as gifts or sold.
Craftdaily.com has some great videos for demonstrating these type of saddle straps which could give you some visual ideas. Best of luck and please post pic’s of your completed project

It’s a little tricky at first, but with a little practice, you could make it very pretty.

Or you could wrap a wire cage around the stone and then wire wrap that onto the staff. Copper is usually an acceptable material on spiritual items as it conducts energy.

That’s about the only way to do it unless you create a cup at the tip of the shaft to sit the orb into. Make sure the shaft can support the weight of the orb being at its end and that the shaft is strong enough not to bend or flex in any manner when the orb is attached otherwise it will break.

Ends left lose to wrap around staff…do u object to glue???

In the picture, i uploaded you see where I am trying to place the sphere and I did carve I place for the sphere to sit within the staff but was afraid to carve to deeply into the staff and then weaken the entire top of the staff. I will consider carving in a bit deeper and then attempt to make some sort of a bowl or net where the Calcite Sphere can sit in.

Thanks

If it has a good place to “sit”, you could then create a wire net to tether it to its seat in the staff.
