What’s the Best Way to Attach Spheres?

I am quite new to wire wrapping and need some assistance. I create staffs where I attach crystals and stones to them.

I have a three cm orange Citrine sphere I need to wrap and attach to an area on the side and within the top of the staff, securely.

Any ideas, it must be quite study as this will is a spiritual piece to be used in a variety of way. I am thinking of a coil of some kind around the stone and then fixing the stone to the staff.
