More strands also mean the wire will drape and bend better. You will need to use crimp beads to secure the beading wire.

Any advice for using nylon S-Lon thread to bead without knitting in between each bead…maybe just knitting every 15 beads or so? I do not want the necklace to break and loose the beads, but prefer to not knot at all if it is safe!

I’m currently working with beads that I can barely see! Not my idea of relaxation but my mum went and bought them to match a pendant I gave her. I have been a beader for 30 odd years but have never worked with seed beads as I have dreadful eye sight. The beads aren’t actually seed beads, a tad bigger… 1mm
I’m planning to thread 5 rounds placing the pendant at the start on 2 beaded threads. My idea is to weave Balinese silver beads and moonstone beads ( to match the style of the pendant and the beautiful blue moonstones in it) here and there grabbing 2 strands together intermittently whilst beading the little blue beads on all 5 strands as I go. …phew!
Question, what is the strongest thread that will be thin enough to go through 1 bead potentially 3 times?
I’m using a large eye’d needle which goes through the beads easily. I would hate to go through all that work for it to break.
Any beaders out there have any ideas?
Much gratitude,
Jaya

Hi Laura, I have used Accuflex 49-strand beading wire for decades, and I have never had any breakage of this beading wire. Not even on pieces that have been worn for years, by customers who really abuse their jewelry. I hope this helps! 🙂

Even the medium will break. It’s so frustrating. I wish there was something stronger. Any suggestions?

Also, it doesn’t stretch out like waxed linen sometimes does with heavier beads.

I can bead heavy and never worry about the stringing material breaking.

I’ve made many different size necklaces with beads as large as 12mm. The knots are sturdy, strong and the cord is easy to work with.

It looks like you’re knotting between the gemstone beads – is that right? If so, have you tried nylon, polyethylene, or kevlar threads?

The heaver the beads, the heavier the wire you would use (more strands = stronger beading wire) 7 strand is the lightest I have seen and about 49 strand is the heaviest. More strands also means the wire will drape and bend better. You will need to use crimp beads secure the beading wire.

Hope that helps
