I’ve included my business card in the gift box and also indicated the value of the item (price I would sell that item). I have never received any business from this. I figure it IS a way to get my name in front of the public at the very least. May give the gift certificate a try since I am running out of jewelry items that I want to move out of my inventory.

I once found my necklace at a yardsale, still in the gift wrap, from a recent fundraiser I had donated to. I guess the person who got it didn’t like it. Next time I will donate a gift certificate and the person can pick something more their style.

I don’t expect to get anything out of it. However, this particular event is juried, so I figure I can add it to my resume.

Recently I donated a piece for a “Chinese Raffle” type of auction and my piece was the most popular by way of the number of tickets in the cup.
I always include my business card but never “expect” anything back.

A gift with the expectation of a some sort of remuneration is not a gift. It’s an investment or advertizing or a trade. Pick causes you believe in and give with your heart. You will be a lot happier.

But that didn’t happen. Now, I donate with no expectations because they are organizations that I want to support. If an order should ever come, well that will be a nice surprise.

However, these donations have not brought any business to me. I get lots of compliments but that’s it. I would not recommending donating to promote your business.

As for donating to other events… not a lot of experience, but I know when a friend needed a not too expensive gift for a secret santa this year, I gave her a crystal heart necklace I had along with one of my cards to include in the package. The person she gave it to contacted me a couple of months later and purchased 3 more necklaces.
