Charms are easy to find at Michael’s or Hobby Lobby and don’t cost much. Not to mention the same can be done for zipper pulls they can add to their jackets.

Using hemp as it is easier to thread thru beads and then knotting the ends. Something simple. He could even make one for his mom and dad with your help.

I especially like the idea of doing something together, and ornaments! I have followed Rena for years. God Bless you and everyone that has this wonderful addiction! I read something at church that said creating something beautiful is a way to praise God. Thanks to all of you!!

If you have a kumihimo disk – or can make one, you can google for instructions – you can use embroidery floss to make some fun bracelets or necklaces for dirt cheap.
Also consider shrinky dink for charms or pendants – you don’t have to buy it, a lot of plastic containers can be recycled for this, they just have to have the #6 in the triangle.

Also, for handmade gifts, consider making them a special ornament. You can make them a new one each year. Then when they move out on their own, they will have a collection to take with them!

Bracelets – hemp & bead friendship bracelets, or paracord bracelets.

Necklaces – at age 5, it’s a good idea to make sure children are under adult supervision when wearing necklaces. Possible design ideas – surfer-dude necklaces, or scarab / arrowhead pendants with beads on leather cord.

Also, you’ll find lots of other great jewelry ideas for young boys in the comments below this post:

Another thought: Depending on your grandsons’ level of interest and patience, would they enjoy making their jewelry with you? That could be a fun experience and a great memory for all of you.
