Vintage Trailer Beaded Pendant

My dear friend is crazy about vintage campers, and has an adorable little blue and white Shasta that she has named “Maxine”. For her birthday, I decided to recreate Maxine in a beaded version that she can wear.

I started with several photos of both Maxine and other similar vintage campers to get a good silhouette shape in mind.

Using dark annealed steel wire, I formed the frame, including separate pieces for the wing, windows and door.

A variety of glass, metal and gemstone beads were wired to the frame in a random arrangement.

The finishing touch was the bail and pendant chain, also formed in dark annealed steel.

The original Maxine.

I’m (in)famous for posting pics of my completed projects before they arrive as gifts, but somehow I was able to keep quiet about this one! My friend was surprised and delighted with her wearable mini-Maxine.
