Victorian Button Necklace With Aged Patina

Vintage and Victorian buttons are little works of art. They make the most beautiful jewelry. Here’s a necklace that I designed using an old Victorian Button (ca 1900) that was converted along time ago into a pendant.

Victorian Button Necklace

“Amber Nights” was comprised from the parts of two Deco Era necklaces (ca 1920 to 30) that were no longer in style. Charming old amber glass rondelles run up to chunky sterling chain which clasps with a sterling S hook. Two old Edwardian era steel cut buttons (ca 1910) serve as breaks in the necklace and are surrounded by old rhinestone rings.

I love designing jewelry from old found parts because the old pieces have such a rich patina. It’s a patina that could only be acquired by the aging of 80-90 years. This necklace makes me dream of days long past, and wonder about those sultry “Amber Nights”
