Using Gourds Instead of Traditional Jewelry Display Busts

For several years now I have been designing and selling my wirework, and have the usual commercially produced necklace busts to display my pieces.

One of our local craft stores stock gourds in their natural state, and I have been pondering how to cut, clean & decorate them to use as an alternative necklace display stands.

(Gourds are of course, those large, hard pumpkin-like pods that grow on a vine.)

Any suggestions or ideas would be much appreciated, thanks.
