Thank you for the tip! I will try to see how that works! I like the pitted look on copper, because it gives it a more rustic look and takes on a nice patina. But I am obsessive about my silver balls being smooth and shiny:)

I found a note that said to make the copper balls smoother and the process faster dip the end in “borate of soda” before heating in the flame. A quick web search looks like that is Borax. I haven’t tried it yet, but maybe this will help.
