I am not a good thrifter, too many bad childhood memories of wearing thrift store clothes and getting teased. I love that you think outside the box! I’m trying to climb out of the box, myself.

That’s what it’s all about! What you said about getting out of our comfort zone and enjoying our artsy side is true. Sometimes I need that reminder! 🙂

I am a thrifter too. Your ideas have given me ideas of new things to scrounge for. When I wear unusual finds or creations people usually comment and say they like them, but they would never have thought they could wear them. I always say to look at something, say to yourself, is this a conversation starter? Then wear it! Get out of your comfort zone and you will enjoy the artsy side of you. It feels good to set a trend with your creativity .????????

The idea of the metallic crocheted lace around the edge sounds absolutely beautiful! Have fun creating! 😀

I’ve been thrifting more lately and you’ve inspired me to make some of those lovely cuffs. Ooo, I just had a flash of metallic crochet thread lace sewn around the edging. Better get crafting, lol.

Barbara, I’ll bet your hand-painted scarves will look amazing when you’re able to find just the right project for them! I’ll bet if you look around on Pinterest you’ll find lots of neat things you could do with them. I’m just getting started with silk! 🙂

Moogie, I’m glad the leather bale inspired you! I’m not big on doing wirework, I just don’t enjoy it, so I’m always looking for new ideas to make bales and use textile and other materials. Reusing and recycling gives me a real feeling of satisfaction, plus it’s way cheaper than buying a lot of jewelley supplies!

Have fun ladies! 😀

It takes a creative mind to think beyond all the ready-made materials available for jewelry making. And now you’ve given me a great idea on how to use all those scarves I don’t wear! Your end result jewelry is really beautiful. I especially love your idea of using the gorgeous turquoise leather as a glue on bail. Brilliant! Thanks so much for sharing!

You have given me ideas for using some painted silk scarves that I made some time ago. I just wasn’t satisfied with some of them and they sit in a box waiting for a project. Any tips?

Thank you for supplying the link to my Big Dipper necklace! I do like that pendant, and was glad to find something else suitable to hang it on. In the process, I added a couple more little elements to the spoon.

I agree that that piece of silk is perfect for my beachy jewellery. It’s much happier out getting used than it was sitting in my drawer. I still have lots of it to use for further projects.

And I love the turquoise ripped silk beachy theme here – turquoise is so compatible with beach / seaside creations. What a brilliant (no pun intended) pair of cuff bracelets paved with sparklies!
