I just got a couple of beautiful tin containers to work with myself. I was wondering about how to work with it (dome, etc.) without scratching the design. You have answered my question!

Pretty easy once you get the hang of it. Used metal shears to cut of the rims of the tins. You’ll need a flat piece of tin to do the next step. Used a die cutter to punch out the discs. Smoothed the edges with sand paper. Punched the holes for the ear wires and filed the rough edges off the back side. Sprayed with a Permalac, a sealant. Domed the discs face down in a wooden dome set with a thin piece of t-shirt cloth underneath the tin. Trying not to harm the finish. The best thing was I got 4 tins in a bag at the thrift store for $2!

Thanks!
