But I came up with a serious issue. When I tried to comment on your night lights, my RSS feeder couldn’t find your website! I don’t know if this is possibly your problem or not. But I would definitely check into that with your web designer. There seems to be a technical issue that could make all the difference in the world for your success. If this is the case, you’re never going to get any sales. If you want my opinion, I would look into getting a new developer.

Why? From a buyer’s perspective, that’s a turn off. Why would someone write an email and have to wait for a response? You only have a short amount of time to engage someone and you’re making it too hard for them to purchase from you AND you don’t have e-commerce capability. Again why? I’m guessing that you take orders on the phone. What if you get into a game of telephone tag? The potential client is just going to give up and go somewhere else. Also, it’s helpful to have one than one picture of each item.

Is that not the case?…

You can’t see how lighting effects the glass. That said, I have not had many sales from Etsy either. My best customers are the teachers I work with who seem to have some disposable income.

I used to have a store in a shopping mall and did very well. But due to circumstances about two years ago, I closed my shop and created a website. I get some repeat customers, but so far I did not get any new customers. From all your comments I see that I am not alone not getting any sales from my website.

It’s taken me years to get a foothold on Etsy, lots of tweaking of photos, descriptions, prices etc but this past fiscal year was my best ever and I continue to grow my business slowly but surely.

Too many sellers get this idea that you just have to toss a handful of listings up and watch the money roll in. It’s hard work, you put a lot of money and effort into it but there are very few overnight successes!

Personally, Id never rely on local sales, doing shows & being known in the area is a bonus but local sales make up about 1-5% of my sales overall, it makes no financial sense to limit myself to such a small pool of people.
