On Maui we struggle with wind a lot too :/ I like how you wrapped the wire with floral tape. I must try that. I use discarded Patron bottles, fill it with seaglass or shells and I make a palm tree to hang earrings but the wire always gets rusty. Also, I use 20g wire.
