I handcrafted this setting using gold filled channel wire. It is an open design so you can see the back. Most of my coin pendants are handcrafted. A few of my coins at my shop are mounted in screw top bezels so that you can remove the coin, which I purchase, but can be hard to find a good fit with these types of bezels. The best part of making coin jewelry is researching the history of a coin.

If I may ask, where did you find the bezel in the correct size? Is it a solid back, or open (so that people can see the reverse side as well)? I have coins from the mid 1800’s and I’ve thought about enjoying them as jewelry but I don’t want to damage them. In the mid 1980’s my husband & I traveled to Greece and I’ll always remember the laughter from the merchant who gave me a beautiful gold & silver coin as change! I took it to a jeweler for an open setting & still love to wear it (but now I’d vastly prefer to make it myself, if I can).

This vintage penny looks like it’s in very good condition, and the gold bezel setting sets it off nicely.
