I really enjoyed creating this pendant. I know it’s a little different, but I just love faces. They speak to my spirit! I usually feature my own photography on my photo jewelry, but I found that I love to take old pictures – especially ones of my family members – and make something new and different from them.

I think that Tati might turn over in her grave if she saw my necklace. She passed away at the age of 101 close to 20 years ago. She never married and was a nanny for a wealthy family here in St. Louis for 50 years! She basically lived a “Downton Abbey” life. She was a beautiful woman, and she was also very much a character!!

I love how the crystal gives your pendant such a magical mystical feel. I am sure your “Tati” would be so proud to be a part of such a gorgeous piece of jewelry.

I love your interesting idea of using part of Tati’s portrait photo with a chandelier crystal – it makes such a fascinating, ethereal pendant. How lovely that it honors both your cousin and aunt.

And thank you for sharing the interesting history of Tati and your grandmother coming to America without knowing anyone here, to earn money to send back home after the devastation of WWI. What brave ladies!
