I do use a drill press because it can be slowed down – a Dremmel might be good for some but for me, the speed was too intense, and I took the chance of really messing up my fingers if the Dremmel or stone shifted. I created my own little system – even made my own little adjustable wooden jig to hold the stones. I will say it takes time and patience – some stones drill in under 15 minutes, some it has taken me well over an hour depending on the hardness. Sorry this doesn’t really answer your question completely but I hope it helps somewhat.

I have gone through lots of wire on experiments – some good, and some, well, not so good. I like things secure because many pieces of jewelry I bought over the years broke quickly due to flimsy connections – now that I know how to make thing sturdy, I plan to fix my own jewelry store purchased items. Experiment and have fun.

I have been struggling with insecure pinch bails and unattractive options and you have just inspired me! So simple but so pretty! Thanks!!
