I’m going to try it too – definitely for my Easter show. Just have to find something to prop the hat on so that it can tilt down… I don’t have a lot of “stuff” where I’ll be living. Maybe I could borrow something from a neighbour… borrowed a mug rack in the past that was great to dangle bracelets from.

I most definitely will post photos of my custom made necklaces with your straw hat ideas as opposed to the pendant necklaces because the hat will bring out the craftsmanship that we work so hard for whereas the easels can show more of the wire wraps. I look forward to mixing the colors so that they go well against a straw background. I’m even thinking of getting a black straw hat. Come to think of it, you could easily find these in tag sales as well. The possibilities are endless, oh – and think of how it would look hanging vertically. Sorry, I got carried away. 🙂

Irene, this is a HUGE relief to read of your idea because I have a trunk show coming up and was just panicking because I don’t have display easels that are low enough to fit the built in shelves of a library in our new house and I wanted to do something creative and not mainstream. If you do not mind, I am going to use my straw hats and display some necklaces. I will take photos to post here if you like.

I can imagine a whole table full of different straw hats with jewelry hanging from or pinned to them at a summer art festival or craft show.

This is a totally cool super inexpensive idea.
