Spring Movement Necklace by Chris Rehkop - featured on Jewelry Making Journal

Spring Movement

I had a picture in mind of a jewelry design I wanted to make.

However, as often happens, although I like the finished piece, it’s not what I originally envisioned.

The colors in the piece change, reflecting what you wear it with, which is a plus.

My jewelry design style is usually feminine and delicate, so this design is definitely “outside my comfort zone.”

I did a ‘test drive’ and wore these pieces to church, and also posted them on my Facebook page to see how friends reacted.

  • I really like the “dripping” feel of this necklace, Chris! And it feels a bit more edgy, with the alternating metal bar components among the bead dangles. The color-changing and reflections are a really great bonus in this design! And what kind of feedback did you get from your friends at church and online?

  • Chris Rehkop says:

Thank you Rena! Many friends recognized this piece was different from what I normally design, but they really liked it.

I love the mix of metal and stone with a “flowy” feel. Nice use of the spacers. I have some and wondered what to use them for. Thanks for the inspiration.
