Spiraling Out of Control

My journey into jewelry making began about 6 months ago when a friend suggested I use up old inventory and broken pieces of jewelry to create new pieces.
I began with steampunk which I still love to make but when searching the internet for ideas I stumbled upon wire weaving and coiling.
I really like the intricate designs that can be created with wire so I decided I’d give it a try.
I’m completely self taught so I’ve been through a lot of trial and error but I find the challenge rewarding.
This coiled piece is a combination of free form weaving and coiling.
I purchased the metallic finish beads at a flea market and incorporated them into the design. I used copper and brass wire in 20 & 24 gauge and combined decorative spirals with pearls and beads for the chain.
I like the way the patina on the beads pick up the same colors of the copper and brass wire. I used the pearls to contrast the metals.
