Something That is Working for My Online Jewelry Shop, by Kathy Zee - featured on Jewelry Making Journal

I made this card in MS WORD. They were name cards that I changed to my thank you.

Every order online that I receive from my Etsy store, I send a “thank you gift”.

I use my stash of beads and make a key chain, or a pair of earrings, or a stretchy bracelet and include an hand written thank you card along with the business card stock that I made and printed “A thank you gift from ZeeBlings by Kathy Zee.”

I get five star ratings for my jewelry on Etsy, and many thank you’s from customers.

Cost is deductible at tax time, and it costs me literally nothing to do this extra thank you.

I have a stash of beads that would fill a store…not really, but enough that it’s easy to “give” something and I have many repeat customers.

  • Kathy, thanks for sharing this neat idea that’s working so well for you! And how smart to turn components from your stash into lovely customer gifts! No wonder your customers are so happy! 🙂

  • CraftyHope says:

I do the same thing! I tend to make beaded bookmarks and magnets plus throw in some candy suckers (dum dums) just as a little something extra. I want there to be no question that it’s all handmade and from the heart.

  • Sandy says:

I’ve always sent a thank you clip with each of my orders. Sometimes on large orders or really long term repeat customers I’ll create a bracelet or earrings from my stash too. Customers love it and I enjoy doing it.

  • Thanks for sharing your method, Sandy! And I love that you mentioned doing what brings you joy when it comes to customer gifts.

  • Val says:

Great idea! Customers love to receive something extra, especially when it is unexpected.

  • When I sell one of my handmade pendants of stones and silver I always include my business card with a handwritten thank you. But I also include a gift of a similar stone in the package. Of course, my customers are all dedicated natural stone lovers and like to add them to their collections. !

  • Thank you for this reminder. I occasionally send a thank you gift but more often I forget. I will be more conscientious about this process. Thanks again!
