I wouldn’t recommend using 9ct solder on any piece that isn’t 9ct. If this is used on a higher carat piece you will have a visible seam.

So, if you are working in 14k white and yellow gold, you need at least one solder in each color. If you are working with different karats of gold, you need solder in each color. The workability and color of each solder is different, so I don’t advise mixing 14k solder with an 18k bezel – you will have a visible seam that is more stiff than the surrounding bezel. I recommend taking a class or watching YouTube. Also check out an Alan Revere or Tim McCreight book.

Hoping to have a website or go back to eBay, which i did many years ago with success. I have all the equipment to solder have just closed rings etc to secure. I would love a class in Florida I’m in Brooksville the geographic center of the state it would be worth a trip to do it a class in a day?

A class might be extremely helpful to you. William Holland School in Young Harris, GA offers classes in gold and silversmithing.
